An ex work mate laid this up 12 years ago and i tried to buy it, he was lazy and nothing ever came of it,
i bumped into another ex work mate on Friday who mentioned he had bought it a couple of years ago and it had laid on his drive since.
5 x £20 notes later it's parked in my workshop and i'm not really sure what i'm going to do with it.
It's got 87k on the clock, I got it running this afternoon after an oil change and some fresh fuel, The engine is quiet and smooth with no smoke
what so ever.
Found a full stainless Magnex system including manifold aswell.
it's pretty solid with only 1 small patch needed on a sill.
So what do i do with it?
Sell it to me
Rob
Give it to me so I can transplant the running gear from a gt4 into it!
Scrap it?
<runs and hides>
Nice track car or restore it, not many left now.
What are front seats like?
No rot on the lower join of inner wing to chassis leg?
Get it back on the road and drive it! They are awesome little cars! Then mi16 or gti-6 conversion on itbs running megasquirt!
For that sort of money you can't really loose
Depends how much time you have available really, You could turn a very nice profit with some elbow grease.
Or you could tidy it up and use it for track days
Would be a real shame to see it stripped and scrapped
Had one of these years ago and its probably the only car i've ever missed when it sold

had one of these when i was 19 one of my favorite cars, clean ones go for some good money clean it up and bring it back to its former glory
Clean it up, stick a years MOT on it, stick it on eBay. Im sure you will make a massive profit on it, then get a proper track day car with RWD.

Surprisingly no rot on the front inner wings
front seats are decent, no holes like so many.
I had a 205 GTI MI16 on twin 40's many years ago twybrow, it was alot of fun.
i defo won't strip and scrap it, SWMBO has been asking about doing a trackday herself and the only car i have avalaible now is my Radical so that's the most likely option if i decide to keep it,
I'm thinking i'll stick it in for an MOT and go from there,
^^^^^very nice!
oh and dont let the mrs drive the radical gaz!
That is a bargain!
They are rapidly increasing in value even for tatty ones. There is one currently for sale @ £14,950, very late model, unltra low mileage, showroom
condition etc, but gives you an indication of where they're headed.
Having recently picked an F reg one up myself + a bare body shell for a rebuild project I have started to discover the lack of parts availability.
Peugeot simply don't make or have any parts left. Pattern parts are out there, but of variable quality and price.
Very very few cars are completely rot free. The amount of seam sealer and underseal Peugeot applied to the galvanised bodies did a god job of slowing
the onset of corrosion, but it also does a great job of hiding it as well. Check carefully under the rear seats, edges of the boot floor, rear seat
mounts, rear quarter to sill join, base of the B pillars, under the windscreen seal and under the scuttle panel. Also make sure to check and clear
the drain holes for the sunroof. Rear window seals are prone to letting in water as well.
For what you paid, if you turn it around with a years MoT and spruce up you should see at least £1,500, possible £2,500 if it's tidy.
There's a good demand for original unmolested cars, which will go to enthusiasts and not get stripped and tracked.
I can also recommend the 205 GTI Drivers forum as a good source of info and parts if you need it.
Clean, repair and use it.... awesome little cars...
So bearing in mind the little 205 hadn't seen a road for 12 years i decided to book it in for an MOT and see what it needed.
My main concern was obviously rust.
The fail sheet read
Horn not working
Front washers not working
O/S/F Indicator not working
Rear Fog and tell tale not working
Rear Number plate light not working
Wipers not clearing screen
Rear brakes binding
O/S/R sill corroded was an advisory
and that's it,
Horn and Washer pump are both goosed
Indicator and Number plate lights where bulbs
Rear fog and tell tale was a loose connection at the switch
well impressed and happy, should be mot'd by the weekend
