Folks..... I don't get a reminder here in SA, but do we still have to SORN cars that are off the road and stored away in the UK? I did it last year but seem to recall this the SORN thing was going to stop at some point, might be wrong though.

Tax discs are being discontinued some time this year, but not seen anything regarding not sorning.

On the other hand, I thought it'd been altered so that SORN rolled over from year to year and didn't need to be renewed annually anymore... Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong though. Hopefully we'll get a definative answer soon.

i thought the same as Adithorpe, as one of our currently Sorn'd cars didnt need re-sorn'ing this year when we tried

Although I'm still worried DVLA will send a fine - just can't seem to trust the systems these days.....

You do not need to renew a SORN now, it remains in force until you tax the vehicle. If you try to do it online it won't let you. Found that out recently when tried to renew one myself. The information is on the DVLA website, but takes some finding!!

+1 You must do an initial SORN then it is valid until you tax or sell the car.

OK thanks guys, I will just leave it SORNed and wait till I move back to UK and then tax it to get back on the road.

If you didnt sorn it when the perpetual system was in force you will still need to renew one more time.
