I am looking at 7 kit cars and would like peoples experiences of aries IRS cars I have had a DeDion Mk and escort based striker so how do they
compare. Is it worth paying extra for a westfield.
Thanks Matty
It depends what you're after and what your budget is. If you're after a completely straightforward build and factory finish then it might
not be for you. As a track car they work very well as the suspension geometry appears (through luck or judgement) to be very good, they are reasonably
light (between Striker and MK) and parts are very cheap if you have an off.
My view is that for the road I'd pay the extra for a Westfield, on the track you'd be hard pushed to beat the Aries performance-per-£.
And have an Aries hillclimb video because I haven't posted one yet this year!
That's a power hill and a half! Don't think I've ever seen a straighter hill!
Looks nice.and nice driving too!
I am currently on with building my second aries car and have to say they are great.steve the owner is brill with his customers.been to his workshop collecting parts for my build many times.any problems or queries and he will sort it out.hopefully have my car finished for Christmas and on road in new year...
I like them. Had one (an STM one) and the only thing which would put me off in that price range is that a striker is similar money and they can be very well sorted!
I just finished (do we ever finish?) building an Aries. It does not have a build manual, but the help Steve (Aries owner) provides you in reply to any
queries is excellent.
I'm building abroad, so I had other difficulties and that UK people don't have. Steve was the most supportive at a distance, which for me
was great. And it was one of the cheapest options!
I've built mainly for road use and for that Steve recommends the steel floor (instead of aluminium floor). Adds a bit to weigh but a lot
safer.
I have to say Westfield gives a more polished finish, at least those I saw in Stoneleigh. But the relevance of that is a very personal thing as is the
cost difference that polish means. So, it's mainly up to you
Check my blog at http://happyblade.blogspot.pt/. You have a very detailed account (in engrish) of my build so far.
