How the bloody hell has he gotten away with that?

Were the DVLA looking the other way when he registered it?

or

has he simply modified a standard car? (can't think which!)

cliftyhanger - 1/2/16 at 11:49 AM

I reckon it was a std car at some point, pre 60's so doesn't need an MoT either.

There is something similar around here, sort of hotrod with a rusty open-top yub and no bonnet/front wings or indeed rear wings. Big V8 in it, looks like something from the Adams family.

All is well until it goes tits-up and questions get asked.

he said it was a 30,s singer "sport".
i have seen quite a few T rod stylie cars around with uncovered whels and tyres.....wonder how they get round that ?.

oh and he looks familiar ?.

So far as I understand it there is NO requirement in C & U regs to cover wheels & tyres - EXCEPT when it is wet, so if you are prepared to use the car only in the dry & have a few arguments with the coppers then you're fine, tho' you should tell your insurance co. you've made that modification unless it was built that way.

Re the "car" I'm guessing it's simply carrying the reg of the original chassis, tho' classing that chassis as "unmodified" is stretching things somewhat, I think if it ever came to a VOSA stop & inspection he would be shafted

No matter about the legalities of that thing. It is cool as f**k!

Not sure I'd want to live with it but to look at, I think it's epic!

That other creation with the dome roof is clearly copied from Ed Roth's Beatnik Bandit....

that's stretching it a bit - I think the C&U regs say you must have wings in order to prevent mud and spray being thrown up - slightly different

ETA: (2) Subject to paragraphs (3) and (5), every vehicle to which this regulation applies shall be equipped with wings or other similar fittings to catch, so far as practicable, mud or water thrown up by the rotation of its wheels or tracks.

Its a bit maf innit!!!

V8 with triple SUs on each bank, are they for show or has 3-4 inlet manifold.

Mountney steering wheel lets it down.

Plus there's 'Using a vehicle which is in a dangerous condition'. Iirc, that comes under the C&U regs.......
