Hello,
i need some advices.
A few days ago i bought a car in UK that has a cherished plate.
As i am in Belgium, i have no use of that plate.
So, how can i sell that plate?
When i go to specialised websites as National Numbers or Plate4less,
i can not finish the proces because i do not have a UK address.
Is there a way for me to sell that plate ?
Gerardo
Yes, you need to transfer the registration to a DVLA retention certificate using form V317 and paying them £80, however, I would phone them and ask the question as they may want to inspect the car.
Car needs to be taxed and MOT'ed to remove a plate too

What is the plate actually worth?
May be far more hassle than the value. Honestly.
And remember the advertised prices for plates from the dealers is way higher than what you would get. That is if they manage to sell it.... (from
experience!)
If the numberplate is 'S3 VEN' then ill go to the trouble of getting it off the car (and I'll give you £50!) ;-)
Hello,
i don't understand : "If the numberplate is 'S3 VEN' then ill go to the trouble of getting it off the car (and I'll give you
£50!) ;-)"
From what i see , the value of my plate should be around 300- 350£.
I will try to contact DVLA and see what i can do.
thanks for your help,
Gerardo

Another thought. The car will need to be registered in your name, and taxed here. So you will need an address (easy enough) but uk insurance to tax
it.
Is that 300-350 value what it would sell for?? If so I doubt all the hassle will be worthwhile after the agencies take a huge cut...
It doesn't need to be taxed, just SORN with no gaps.
post the reg on here, and perhaps we can tell you if its worth anything first,

Yes it has changed.
I did one only a few days ago with no MOT.
They may still call the vehicle in for an inspection to ensure it hasn't been rung or similar in a method to recover very old plates.
I had to rebuild a motorbike to get the plate off, problem was I only had the frame! Had to buy a spare bike for the bits.
Now, you can even do it online, instant transfer and V5 came a few days later.
