Anyone on here changed the clutch master cylinder on a MK1 focus? Is it possible to move the steering shaft without taking the whole column out? Any advice would be appreciated.

Replaced the MC on an old MK1 deisel estate I used to have. Definitely didn't remove the column, but I may have moved the shaft.

Bad news is I can't remember what I did, but I do remember it was a real PITA
