Before i start, are there any ideas on what i can use to clean the aluminum floor that got covered in oil when i was having engine breathing issues at
the end of last year. I basically have the underside of my car completely covered in a thin layer of oil and want to get it clean!
Thanks in advance!!
If it's the underside that's covered I'd be tempted to leave it there as a "corrosion inhibitor". Alternatively a good wash with Gunk and warm water/stiff brush should shift the worst.
you could always use some petrol to get the oil off, then when th petrol has evaporated give it another wipe over with a clean cloth.
you could even use white spirits
Autoglym sell a product called " Intensive Tar Remover" which is great at removing all oil based products from surfaces.
FAIRY LIQUID

Yeah i was thinking on just leaving it, doesn't make it easy to spot an oil leak though! I'm just going to clean up the visible bits
when i had my oil filter come off my car got covered underside i used traffic film remover the pressure washed it.
Gunk and mineral spirits, 50/50 spray with a garden sprayer or similar, wash off with hose. Used it for years to clean race cars, airplanes etc. Please don't use petrol!
Wipe off as much as you can then use brake cleaner to wash off the rest. Use a pump up spray Also removes oil from upholstery.
