scootz - 28/10/09 at 05:41 PM

It's going to get...

DEFINITE
An Injected Duratec
Painted (White with Red Accents like R500)
New Wheels with Bigger Tyres

PROBABLY
New Shocks
New Brakes

POSSIBLY
An Aeroscreen

scootz - while the engine is out, check out the offisde engine mount. They have a habit of cracking around the point where it passes through the angled panel, and mine had cracked away from the bottom panel too.

This is more common on older chassis, newer ones have more welding around the top pass through and are not so prone.

Cheers Ian... once I've got the rest of the bodywork off I'll be giving it a good scrub and inspection! I was actually a little worried about the nearside one as when I was craning the engine out the bracket got stuck on the threaded insert and required a bit of 'force' to get it off!

omega0684 - 28/10/09 at 06:41 PM

did you have a pinto in there before?

scootz - 28/10/09 at 06:42 PM

I did indeed!

Xtreme Kermit - 28/10/09 at 06:52 PM

did you have to take the front shock mounting bracket malarky out to get the boat anchor out?

scootz - 28/10/09 at 06:55 PM

I did... removed both shocks to get the nosecone off.

Think I will cut the shock-holes in the nosecone so they come right down to the chassis... will make bodywork removal a lot easier.

I saw that picture and thought you were going flintstones style

Sean has done an article on this which is in the members section of the owners club website if you are interested.

Arg! My plans for next year was the White r500 colour scheme!

Well it's either great minds or fools rarely differ...

Too late... I got in their first.
