Electric fuel pump location for Webers
Canada EH! - 6/4/11 at 02:47 PM

I was wondering were to place the fuel pump (electric SU style) for the webers. I am thinking behind the rear axle near the tank. Photos would be nice. I may also place the battery back there. Thanks.

There are 2 types of early SU pumps.
Little suck, big blow.
Big suck, little blow.
One is for rear fitment (mini), one for front fitment (Moggy 1000)
I would not use an SU pump as they can be unrealiable.
Use a genuine weber pump as they are cheaper and dont go wrong.

I have a Moggy 1000 type pump feeding twin dellorto 45's on the Lotus,
mounted on the bulkhead just to the right of the steering column. (see pic)

AFAIK
This is the electronic version, not the old type that had a set of contact points in them.

When I bought it there were two capacities. I think the numbers were a 40 or 60, but it may
have been 45 or 65. This is the higher of the two.

Seems to work fine. Don't know if it blows or if it sucks.
I love the noise it makes. Turn the key and you can hear when it has filled the carbs.
It's sort of reassuring.

Cheers,
Paul G

That is the pump I have. My brother had a 61 MGA, my wife a 66 MGB, I too like the sound. My 105E race car used a Stewart Warner pump and my Datsun race car used a Carter, but I am trying to build the Locost as Lotus 7 Mk2 copy. By the way yours is unbelievable.
