My diff exploded....hairy moment !
NigeEss - 17/2/12 at 10:26 PM

Oulton Park today, bit of a shakedown day as I've never driven the car since buying it just
before xmas.
First few tentative very wet and slippy laps then spun coming out of Cascade, still going
fairly tame so was a bit surprised. Finished the lap, car felt very loose so went back to garage
and found oil leaking from the welds of the trailing arm brackets. Car has been in my garage
and no signs of leaks so must only happen when cornering. Some chemical metal and a nappy
made of rags and plastic later I goe out for a test lap. Downshifting to 3rd into Shell and with a
bang the diff went, bit hairy as the tail locked at the turn in point, fortunately releasing a second
or two later allowing me to coast round to a safe bit of verge.
Surprising how much muddy water gets thrown onto your passenger from the front wheel

So now I need to sort someones dodgy welding and now need a diff. Was a 4.1 would want
lower.
Aternatively I convert to IRS/DeDion and use the 3.62 Sierra diff/shafts/hubd I have spare.

Rather find out now instead of mid summer and waste the weather.

Andy, the casing I can hopefuly sort, so will have a go before parting with a ton for one.
Has anyone had a reply from the seller linked above ?
