locost or roadster

Hi ive just joined, Im trying to decide on weather to build the ron champion locost or the haynes roadster. There seems to be more bits available for the locost [things like shocks and all the grp stuff] Unfortunatly i cant make the grp stuff myself as i have a allergy to something in it. But the roadster uses sierra stuff which seems easier to get hold of.
Just one question once my car is built i will want to use it in all weathers which really means im going to have to fit a hood and windscreen does the hood and screen from a caterham or westfield fit the locost?
Thanks John

The roadster is based more around newer cars ie the Sierra not the MK1 and MK2 escort as the locost. Newer adaptations are available for using Mazda running gear

You might find this useful, it's an update to the roadster to use Mazda gear;

http://www.ntsengineering.co.uk/mx5.php

There might be more Sierra's than Escorts, but there does still seem to be some key components that are in short supply. Whereas the MX5 is still a 'running' car so it's much easier to get parts.

You're only looking at a few parts that have to be GRP (fenders, nosecone, etc) and you should be able to modify some 'universal' parts to fit. The other panels are generally aluminium or steel.

Here's another link you might find useful, 'soft bits for sevens';

I suspect their bespoke kits won't be cheap, but then I suspect Caterham or Westfield gear won't be overly cheap either.
