Hi everyone,
Its been a little while since i lasted posted, and im back with a more realistic idea, but im going to need some help!
For the people who don't remember me, Im currently 16 and i have a twin brother and we both plan to buy some form of kit car. We have the passion
for thrill, but maybe less dangerous than on a motorbike :L
We've had a slight change of plan due to Money and selling other cars, and I've been given the task by my dad to go on an investigation to
find what could be the cheapest, and safest way as a first time driver and first car! If i don't find something, it looks like i could be driving
my dads s-max, which im sure is great fun
Im looking for a Kit car, that is pretty much built, but im willing to do appearance and slight engine/frame work modding, without welding. We are
looking for something that is cheap to insure, still safe and can be used all year round! It doesn't have to be a soft/hard top and can be open
roof, but needs to be able to withstand wet roads!
Also am i right in saying, that insurance on one of these is alot cheaper than your average hatchback or corsa?
Thanks
Jawskk
I'd be looking for a Fisher Fury and consider putting in a small engine with a view of upgrading as yor age experience and wallet increases
I have a mate with a 1600 Crossflow Fury and its quick
You could start with an 1100 crosflow and go up from there with very little work as it is basically a bolt in job
Maybe a Riot SE with a 1250 fiesta donor?

I would be getting in touch with some insurance specialists as they will give you an indication of what they will actually insure you on and give a rough idea of costs.
insurance is cheap.for kit cars but dont get your hopes up. i had trouble finding insurance companies that would touch me when i was younger and that
was at 25!
you may find one at 17 just keep hooning around. untill then get a car and get working on it.
Thanks everyone!
So My father has basically said that they can sort something out for me, or I could spend my own money and build/buy a kit car? My Father just finds
it hard to believe that I will ever get insured on it? Can anyone that has managed to get insured on maybe a fisher Fury with a 1100 crossfire engine
at 17 please tell me roughly whether it was expensive or not?
My problem is, is that i predict to have £2000 by next February, and so does my Brother so that will be a total of £4000 to spend on the getting and
making the car good, and insurance! Any help?
Thanks
Most of the specialist insurance companies that know of a Fury advertise in the back of PPC mag as well as other kit car mags. Grab a copy of the bag
that takes your fancy and phone the companies in the back to see if any of them will phone you. No point phoning the big companies, they dont know
what half of the cars are so they cant quote.
Consider dropping annual milage and someone else on, like your dad, as a named driver. This may help get the price down further. If its just too much
then you may have to buy a cheap £100 car to get a years no claims on.
Its been 13 years since I was 17 so a lot has changed with insurance. When I was younger you had to do quite badly to get over £1200 for your first
quote.
Good luck.
Thank you!
I'll try and get a copy of the mag and see what quotes i could get. I plan to have my brother and I on it but im presuming i need an experience
driver as a named? My dad has a Z4, but im sure he wouldn't mind driving the kit as well haha

Just looking at the Fisher Fury's again as they look ideal, but I can't seen to find any for under £7000 and with a build budget of
£2500-£3000 this looks out of our price range... Any ideas?
Thanks
NTDWM but what about something like GTM ROSSA kit car | eBay?
The GTM looks nice, but im kinda looking for something like the Fisher fury please, so that its sporty and convertible but i a bit cheaper than the
fury :L
Thanks
