First drive of the car.....

Wow grinning ear to ear and will be for the rest of the week. Opps careful though slippy roads !!!

Failed on:

Headlamps have left hand drive dip pattern

emmisions 5.0% CO (I knew it was too rich, but if I lean it off the engine misfires and spits back through the carbs). I need to advance the ignition slightly at idle to cure this (currently 10 degrees)]

and the hand brake was crap - expected this, I have to do some serious adjusting to fix this.

Three things, the inspector said the rest of the car looked great.

and............. the toe out settings worked it tries to self centre !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done.

It must be the best feeling ever. My father has just got his SVA'd and is still on a high from the first drive. MOT station was 3 miles away, he managed to find a route that was 5 miles! Cant wait to take mine out for first time.

It doesnt matter what they fail on. To have built a car from scratch at home then be able to drive it is a huge achievement. Well done and best of luck for the SVA.

Must agree - there is no better feeling than the first drive. Clse second is listening to the engine fire up for the first time...

Why a PRE sva MOT ?? Peace of mind ?

givemethebighammer - 7/1/05 at 08:09 PM

thanks people,

why pre SVA MOT ?

just thought that an MOT inspector would pick up any little but important mistakes I had made, as well as check the brakes headlights and general road worthiness of the car. Just as well I did would have been a shame to fail the SVA on any or all of the the three things he picked up. My thinking is that as long as I fix the above and cover all those edges up, I have a fair chance of getting through the SVA without too much pain.

pics ? If the weather allows I'll try to take some in the morning. The garage doesn't lend itself to good photos (too small and dark).
