Hi guys,
Its quiet cold and damp outside (been raining), can I still paint my new rear disk parts? I can shelter them from the rain, but will the dampness in
the air affect the paint at all?
Cheers
the paint will get rubbed off first time you brake if you paint the discs
i'll get me coat...
I am actually gonna paint the disks. I was told by a friend to paint the fronts, and its stopped the areas not touched by the pads from rusting nicely.
Can't see it doing much for the pads though!!

I would also think it will wreck your first set of pads!!!! In addition the heat generated by your brakes will probably burn of the rest anyway. Just
my opinion but this sounds like a bad idea to me!!!

Does a lot of paint get made with oil in it? I would not think that this was such a hot idea. if you really wanna do it then surely you should paint
everywhere but not the friction surfaces? if absolutly necessary then do a very small overlap onto friction surface but not cover complete thing?
If it was such a good idea wouldnt all the car manufacturers do it?
Cheers
Brian
ok, if I promise not to paint my brake disks, can somebody tell me if I can paint other things when the weather is damp?
Otherwise its DIY for me all day
sorry to have sent your thread off topic graham
id u2u mark about it, he's sure to know.
put can of spray paint on your house radiator, put the bits you want to spray in the airing cupboard when nice both and warm, spray out side then hang back in airing cupboard, not the ideal way to get in the bints good books but will stop you from doing diy
could put them in the oven, rather than leave them outdoors.
Bloody dark now
I'm painting the stuff tomorrow, rain or not!
If you are spraying (rather than brushing) then damp air makes the paint "bloom" as it dries, giving a dull whiteish appearance. If you can get the freshly sprayed part into somewhere warm and dry ASAP after spraying then it's usualy ok.
I been trying to paint my chassis outside the last couple of weeks. the bits i did before it got dark have dried dull due to the damp.... Its taking me bloody ages to get it done!! I wish i had it powder coated when i bought it.
