Roland - 22/3/02 at 08:26 PM

Need some help guys. After numerous attempts at trying to get answers from certain people ! I will consult the collective knowledge of the list. Can someone please tell me where I can get a winscreen cut for my Locost( have template ). Needs to be in the Doncaster, Rotherham Barnsley areas, don't want to travel too far.... could go in the Locost though...enough rambling, answers below please

Thank you all.

Roland
Try JF Bodman & son in Donny. Just off wheatly hall road. They are the best glass shop in town and should be able to sort you out. Don't know about cost though!

Rob Lane on the locost list once told me to try

National Windscreens

I emailed from their site, and was told that i should talk to one of their depot who could cut and price a screen for me.

Went into my local RAC Auto Windscreens depot yesterday. They said if I had a template and it was for flat kite marked laminated glass they would charge £45. Just to give a rough idea of prices. I'm sure you can get it cheaper than this.

theconrodkid - 26/3/02 at 06:24 PM

I used a Fiat panda screen and a local glass merchant cut it to size leaving kite mark visible, price? foc

wots a windscreen ?

Metal Hippy™ - 26/3/02 at 09:10 PM

I'm not entirely certain what a windscreen is, but I know I ain't havin' one

chrisg - 26/3/02 at 10:13 PM

Conrod mate,

How wide is the Panda Windscreen?

Cheers

Chris

Dunc - 27/3/02 at 09:42 AM

A windscreen is one of those clever things that keeps flies, bees and birds away from your face at speeds above 20mph. And I is most definitly having one.

Metal Hippy™ - 27/3/02 at 06:24 PM

Ya wimp

locodude - 27/3/02 at 07:02 PM

Hey Guys
Why not make the screen easily detachable (like mine)so you can swop between flyscreen and full screen for track days etc...
There's room for everyone's interpretations you know!
Chris

theconrodkid - 27/3/02 at 09:11 PM

Chris the windscreen is wide enough,my chassis (book) i think it was about 3 or 4 inches too wide, see if i can find measurements tommorow

Dunc - 27/3/02 at 09:26 PM

Hey, obviously you havn't seen Me, Myself & Irene. Similar up here in scotland but with bigger bugs!

chrisg - 27/3/02 at 09:50 PM

Thanks John,

Let's hope it's 4 inches!

Cheers

Chris

Metal Hippy™ - 27/3/02 at 10:19 PM

You're only 4 inches?

Marcus - 29/3/02 at 08:53 PM

People. We can see clearly now, the pain has gone!
The new Windscreen is fitted and working.
Quotes for the screen include £55+vat from RAC/Autowindscreens, local scrapyard for a Panda screen, 25+vat.
And finally, with thanks to locodude, JF Bodman in Doncaster, wait for it........

£16.52 + vat
BARGAIN
It must be noted that this isn't kite marked, but we've passed SVA so there!!

locodude - 29/3/02 at 09:43 PM

Cheers

Chris

locodude - 29/3/02 at 10:05 PM

Hey up thisen
It's J F Bodman and son. Just off wheatley hall road in doncaster. They're in yellow pages. I used to supply them in another life when I was in the glazing trade. Just thought they would be handy for our two Donny lads.
