I haven't posted in a while and book builds seem to be getting a bit few and far between so I thought I'd bore you all with some pics of our build. Progress has been a little slow recently and we are a couple of months into the second year of the build.

That throttle linkage looks complex

Coming along very well there Andy, i love the pedals, simple yet effective styling. Very substantial and great looking too.

Some nice welding there. Was it all MIG? Is the fuel tank ally and MIG welded or TIG?

This is looking great - I like the pedalbox and small brackets you've added all over to hold components. Some real thought has gone into the find detail.

There can't be that much more to do before she's ready - floor and panelling will take the time mostly. How's the loom looking?

Looking good... only couple of years to go then!

Remember the SVA height limit for your seatbelt mounts! You may need to put the mounts in your roll bar.

You've done well to get that far in just over a year.

To answer a few questions:

Yes the throttle linkage is a bit tricky but it seems to work quite well, so we'll see!

Welding. Most things are tacked up with a MIG but we have had regular access to a TIG so have been learning how to use that. It definetly helps with things like the exhaust and the tank! THe chassis has been TIG'd as well.

What material have you used for your lower wishbones?
Is it 1" or 3/4" RHS? And what is the diameter of the round tube for the bottom ball joint?
It's coming along well does look the part! Will be nabbing a few ideas!lol

1" 16gauge tube for the lower bones.

The eye at the end of the bone was turned from solid stock to fit the maxi joint.

A few more pics of this weekends work. From this:


etch primed after grit blasting

to this:

two pack satin finish. Looking a little shiney as it was taken very soon after this coat was applied. It has gone off with a nice satin finish.


Also this:

These were zinc plated to stop prevent them from corroding when they get knocked about then gun sprayed with thinned satin hammerite. This leaves a really nice finish.

Pretty much everything has been made now so it should just be a bolt together process from now on. Famous last words.... Well, including the loom...and all of the glass fibre prep.... We shall see!
