original like trigger's broom

is that BMC A-series engine?

JAG - 1/3/07 at 04:29 PM

That's a lovely car and I think it is a BMC A series or similar.

The first Lotus cars had this engine with about 40hp - which gave them a phenomenal (for the day) power to weight ratio of 100bhp/ton.

£24999 is a lot of money though

its been on ebay a few times

That looks very like the one that was for sale (I think with the same company) before on ebay, funny that one had been totally restored as well, but I don't think they mentioned this time that they had REPLACED the chassis. But I could be wrong and it could be another one.

It says LHD on the ad but is clearly RHD. Nice car but not for the money.

Well A series would be correct for an S2 I think, but not as nice as a coventry climax.

And at that price will be on quite a few more times. Ray

August 1960 would be A series 948cc (not 998). Twin SU versions were for USA, which would correspond to LHD.

An S2 should have flared wings, not cycle.

Lotus of Norwich, England ? Would expect it to be Cheshunt.

He may be selling a genuine car, but it's not the one in the pictures.
