Hi, I've aquired this morning a 7 type kit car, basically it says on the chassis plate and tax disc that its a Lowcost (with a w). Now I know
about Locosts but what exactly is a Lowcost. It seems close to book type dimensions but uses Cortina hubs, wishbones and shocks on the front and has
swept front wings rather than cycle wings. It is on an age related plate (1980) but I reckon it would be built pre SVA times anyway. Its running a
crossflow and I've got to say that it was great fun on my little run up the road!! All it needs is a good tidy up and a bit of test and tax and
we're ready for the summer! But what exactly is it and can anyone tell me where I can find more information on it
No difference at all.
Just some people seem to take it literally as Lowcost, rather than just Locost.

PS Oops shoudl have read it more carefully, if it has got full cortina front suspension then its not a Locost... as others may tell you, its probably
an early Robin Hood...

Could be almost anything, if it's got a ladder frame chassis + a wood floor/panels it could be a locust, some of those had cortina front
suspension.
Using cortina front suspension whole (including wishbones and shocks) sounds like a robin hood trick. Think they also made some cars with flowing
wings.
Post some pictures and I bet you will get the answers to all of your questins.

As far asi can tell all the early Robin Hoods were stainless monocoques this link will identify them all.

Had a look at the link and its not like any of those. Its is a spaceframe chassis made from inch box and it looks very similar in design to a book
chassis but with obvious differences for front suspension mountings. I'll have to try and post some pics
