0-60 in a 1300 X-Flow?
Aussie - 9/9/07 at 09:51 AM

Hey I know it's a bit vague, but could anyone please give me a rough guide of what a Locost with a 1300 Ford Cortina (mid-late 1970s) X-Flow restored/rebuilt engine can do?

I have read somewhere that a Locost will do 0-60 in about 6seconds, is this a fair guess-timate? Cheers for any help, Nick.

That's what I'm building and I am planning a 0-60 time of....... eventually.

Until I fit a post SVA, Nos kit, of course.

A 1300 in my Fury was quick off the line, but on the road not really that speedy..

Didn't measure the 0-60 time but it was a hell of a longer period than it is now I've a zetec.

1300 was Probably about 8 secs?

I roughly get 6-ish seconds to 60mph with my 1660cc x-flow. It'll be slower (obviously) with 1300cc, but it'll still be a lot quicker than most hot hatches, and will give plenty of thrills.

I would guess at around 8 seconds.

My old Mk1 1300 GT Escort with modded cam and 421 branch manifold and home ported head did 10 seconds flat and 102 mph at the end of a long straight measured by a friendly traffic cop. and must have weighe a fair bit more than your 7.

The guy i got my 1300 gt engine from reckoned his seven would do it around seven seconds. Yours would presumeably be a bit slower if not to gt spec. But it will still feel surprisingly quick.

My 1300 Westfield gets to 60 in about 7-8 seconds. Still good fun on the road though and plenty fast enough to upset a few hot hatch drivers as if I would.

Too many variables to answer!

Depends too much on gearing both Diff and Gearbox, (will it need only one gearchange or two?) the engine (if it will rev to 8k?), clutch condition etc etc.

Oh one other one the drivers ability and desire to launch it!
