Just sold the Striker I bought. It was to cold for my taste, but I'm still looking for some wheels. I definatly need something closed so the car can sit outside and that is drivable in non summer weather. I do see some Replica's being sold based on a VW beetle which are closed like the 911 Turbo. How does such a car handle? Ofcource the suspension has been modified, but does anyone know if you can track it properly or is the handling not so good or unstable looking at the rear mounted engine?

IMHO A rear engined VW will always handle like a rear engined VW no matter what plastic you put on top !

You should have bought a sheepskin flying jacket before selling the Striker it makes the 7 experience oh so much more realistic in the UK! Mine has been soaked through twice in the 7 but I was still warm

They used to say that the rear engined beetle suspension was the second worst designed in the world, only surpassed by the beetle front suspension.

It will always bad unless you limit suspension movement to a minimal and use on a track.

You will never get anywhere near the handling of a seven style car whilst using a Beetle as donor.

However the handling will (read should) always be better than a Beetle due to the lower CoG and much wider tyres used.
Beach Buggies are great handling beasts and tremendous fun to drive. Most of the Beetle based kits available second hand are more style based.

If you want a car for it's handling then don't go VW Beetle. For track day use it is not the best layout. For just a little spirited driving then why not.

How does the handling compare to a normal sportcar? Like a BMW M3, Mazda Rx7, Nissan 200sx? Is it worse or maybe better looking at the weight? If it's between a normal sportcar and a Seven then it might be interesting for me to do it.

Didn't see that one before. Is it a one-off or can you buy these from the factory? Howmuch is it and does it keep all the water out when stored outside?

I just took those photo's from the website so I have no idea if it keeps out the weather.
