300ZX Donor?????
Jasper - 5/1/04 at 02:31 PM

So now I'm starting to think about the next one - as you do.

Anybody looked into using the lovely Nissan 300ZX twin turbo beast as a donor???? (seen them for as little as £2k driveable, so a crashed one must be even less = cheap power).

Anybody know if they are live or IRS?

Wondering what kind of chassis I'd need to fit it in?

those crrrazy japs have had around 1000bhp out of supra twinturbos.

Having looked under the bonnet of one I'd be highly impressed to see someone cram that lump and all its associated bobbins into a locost. Methinks some serious engine bay enlargement would be needed.

Personally I'd rather just have the supra, I think (heresey perhaps, but I have always thought they looked lovely and wanted one)

Jasper, don't forget the Nissan bunch of animals. I'm on with fitting Silvia Turbo lump into my Dutton at the moment. Standard approx 140hp, but very tunable and cheap too.....worth a look into.

word of warning about those 1000hp Supra motors. Ya they have a ton of power but it takes forever to spool that huge turbo.

My friend raced one in his M3 powered 325 (about 325hp) and he was winning till the top of second gear when the supra spooled.

Its a cool top end car but off the line is kinda crappy.

i always look on ebay for these, plus the 280zx. saw a cheap one a while ago around 1k.

300s are far to pretty to break in my books, would have to be a write off!

old supras are 'only' 230bhp, 300 from manual zx's.

i think that the 200sx is a good option cos of the size and weight. still tunable to 1000bhp with some megabucks...
