I would like a set of digital scales to weigh small to medium sized objects e.g. bike parts; and perhaps used for baking although I doubt any recipe
really needs precision to 0.1 g!!
range up to 5 kg would be fine
there are quite a few, well several thousand in fact! on ebay but I am not looking at pocket ones for weighing herbs
so need a pan 15 cm square
If you have a set that meets requirments that is cheap - should get one for £ 10 or less then let me know or know of one on the bay that'll help
too.
Both our scales (bathroom and kitchen) are digital, several years old, and made (or at least badged) by Salter. Both are very accurate.
I'd be wary of buying them from Ebay, though, because I couldn't be sure if they were genuine Salter.

Check your local Sainsbury -- homeware section. We bought scales for checking postage rates. The one we bough was tiny only goes to 3 kg but they do
bigger ones. Istr cost was under a fiver
It has flat top plate if you put any container on the top empty and press the button it can then subrtact the weight of the container when you fill
it..
For that combination opf weight and precision you are talking about some fairly expensive scales (if you care at all about accuracy).
You'd probably be better off getting a set of 5kg scales with a more realistic 1gram resolution, and a set of small precesion scales for light
stuff.

I got some "Judge" digital stainless kitchen scales that do up to 5Kg, 1g precision IIRC which is fine. GF seems to prefer a smeggy old
plastic set of analogue scales on the odd occasion she does some cooking that requires weighing things.
So I may move the nice stainless scales to the garage
Also have some fishing style hook scales for weighing heavier things that are a funny shape or would obscure the small scales (or even step on
weighing scales).
Can't find a link to the 5kg ones...
Many scales HERE, much cheapness.
