Well not exactly a Locust or a morgan chassis as yet but an afternoon in the garage has produced this





Its 50x50x60cm and holds a plastic planter thats planted up with winter flowers for my sister in laws xmas pressie for her new house and naked garden!

Its my first real forray into making something from scrach in timber.
Its had a couple of coats of fence paint in green since the photo was taken.
It's made of 2x2 timber and 5/8 shiplap
Its that sturdy I reckon i could use it as a prop under the 406 next time i need another axle stand!

Pretty chuffed with my afternoons work.

make sure you put some wood protector on it before leaving it outside, dont want all your hard work to go to waste!

My farther-in law used to make these for friends and family ( Retired chippy ).
The one thing he used to do ( not sure if you have or not ) was to put plenty of drain holes in the bottom.
The first ones he made for the wife where fine till she decided she wanted them moving on the decking after 12 months. The bottom was so rotten without the drain holes it just fell apart.

There is a plastic planter that sits inside on the X which can be taken out and re-planted with spring/summer plants as and when required.

£64 only covers a 2 or 3 hours labour by hand!

as main employment yes, but as a sideline then it pays to think of it as about 22-25 pints
