its a 1951 Talbot Lago T26C apparently

jlparsons - 7/2/09 at 05:50 PM

grill shape has a touch of aston, anyone else think that?

Good link

That car's either got a high clutch pedal, or there's no room for his left foot! His knee's almost up to his chin!

Not much roll safety either..........

That's ok - he's not wearing a harness, so he'll be thrown out anyway!

Hellfire - 7/2/09 at 06:39 PM

Looks like he's actually wedged in with his knees that high.

great link to the website, i,m gonna base the look of the single seater (haynes)that i.ll build on the lotus climax 33.
the simplicity of the cars from that era is quite amazing, more input from the driver required compared to todays electronic micro chips on wheels.
plus i was born in the sixties, so yes i suppose that confirms it ..... i must be simplistic

MR Hend i much prefer the Talbot, sorry. it has a more level front and back height?the vanwall looks too arse heavy

further to other answers this is a pick of the talbot cockpit explaining high left leg. the exhaust manifoldappears to be where the left leg should be

If only the essence of that talbot could be translated into a road car. I'm not sure it could be done without ruining it.

yeah can you imagine it with lights indicators and mirrors etc
