So Dan, ripping hair out, throwing towels in... finally sorted. Well chuffed for ya.
How did you do it? What was the final solution??

Steve

I've been following this thread too, even though I'm running/will be running EFI.
Id love to know how you got it all fixed.
Yep all sorted. needs final tweeking but its going on a rolling road next week so wel see what happens.
All the trouble was sod all to do with the carbs etc. Stuck cam follower. Why it idled ok with that ill never know.
I had a chat with a nice chap at Bogg bros and he said normally zx9 carbs will go on a zetec and run ok with no mods which got me thinking so i
stripped all the cams etc out to see what was going on there. Compressed the buckets and one was inlet was stuck.
Thanks for all your help and suggestions lads. Just need dry road now.
well done that man
Excellent, as said my ZX9 carbs ran straight off the bike and passed SVA!
Just a small amount of tuning at BB that gave me a smotther response and improved mpg.
Throttle bodies and Megasquirt next for me, ONLY if the carbs aren't up to the job though.
Im am chuffed and very relieved iv done it but its so annoying that i have been chasing carbs and ign and it was nowt to do with them.
That seems to be the way with every single thing I do with my build.
I've been trying to get the passenger side wheel on for the last week (all the others go on just fine). I've taken the front suspension off,
taken the front hub carrier to bits, precisely aligned the studs, sanded down the central mounting.
Put it altogether and it still didnt go on!
I took out the rubber hammer and started smashing it together - still wouldnt go on.
I took the wheel off and it fell over on to its front, peering into the wheel itself I suddenly saw a very thin (5mm wide) removable reducing ring
fitted! Absolutely no idea why it was put there. Took it out and it obviously slipped straight on.
