What car would you buy for 10K
sonic - 2/3/09 at 05:28 PM

I had a conversation with a guy today who was debating what car he would buy for 10K.
Excluding 7 type kitcars.

The criteria is that it would be a weekend toy,be fast, entertianing and good to look at.It can be old or modern.

My pic was a Audi UR Quattro, but by todays standards that would probably feel slow!

What you pic

Well if you didn't exclude 7s you could build 40 Locosts.

Allegedly

I like that NSX,might be tempted myself if its still there!

Not wishing to offend i find Elises a bit Girlie!,i do like the VX220 though.
The Intergralle is a great car but you would always expect it to breakdown all the time.

`62 E-type............ I know it probably will go for more than £10000 , even though it's not really worth that nuch (needs a bit of work....)

speedyxjs - 2/3/09 at 06:33 PM

I was going to say e-type but they go for WAAAAAAY more than 10k nowadays

clairetoo - 2/3/09 at 06:37 PM

Or how about a Ferrari ?

iank - 2/3/09 at 06:40 PM

Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT

e.g. http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/11495

With the rest of the cash for the inevitable alfa ownership issues.

carpmart - 2/3/09 at 07:01 PM

e39 M5 - you can use it every day as well!

They are a proper bargain now!

Although it can mean 'lumpy' repair bills it it goes t*ts up!

DIY Si - 2/3/09 at 07:59 PM

No, no, no you're all wrong!
What you need is this, with some haggling:

chrisg - 2/3/09 at 08:25 PM

Nice choices, all wrong unfortunately.

The answer is Porsche 968 CS.

The Elise is a bit too "hairdresser" for me

Cheers

Chris

this is very interesting, this time next year (seems an eternity at the mo) ill be buying something for this price again....

because as a rule i only ever spend £10k max on a car as ive always found there is some serious car to be had for that amount. I only ever broke that rule once and bought an 18month old rx8 for 18500. needless to say, 10months & 10k miles later i sold it for £14k shocking, never again.

Nearly, Porsches are merely for people who are too frightened to get a TVR.
