Working Population?
coozer - 24/4/09 at 11:12 AM

Badger and bum boy Brown reckon we have 25 million people in work here. 2.6 claim incapacity benefit. With 3 millionish unemployed that leaves at least 39.4 million peeps unaccounted for.

Anyone know what they are up to?

This is purely based on the vague figures our spineless Junta put out.

Theres more people aged over 65 than between 18 & 65? Come on, hospitals are not that good!

There's 12,800 in my town with the comp having about 1400 kids ,maybe 2000 with primaries etc.

Housewives who aren't looking for work aren't classified as unemployed or employed. Similarly, millionaire playboys and children of people who's "daddy is something big in the city". Also students, prisoners, residents of institutions and people like Delboy Trotter who aren't registered.

BTW, there are 2.03 million unemployed at the moment, rising by 0.163 million over the last 3 months. It hasn't been near 3 million since Thatcher was in charge.

"The population of this country is 51 million.
21 million are retired.

That leaves 30 million to do the work.
There are 19 million at school.

That leaves 11 million to do the work.

2 million are unemployed and 4 million are employed by the
government to look after us.

That leaves 5 million to do the work.

One million are in the armed forces, which leaves 4 million to do the
work.

3 million are employed by County and Borough Councils to help the
government to look after us.

That leaves one million to do the work.

There are 620,000 people in hospital and 379,998 in prisons.

Which leaves 2 people to do the work.

You and me.

And you are sitting on your arse reading this.

No wonder I'm ********* knackered!"

Was posted a while back in Mad House, but rings more and more true with each passing day! I don't think the statistics hold true, but they can't be far out

21 million are retired...

that would mean they will be dead within about 25 years or around 840,000 a year

sounds a tad high to me

statistics.gov.uk says abot 60.5million population, 10 million over 65, 13 million under 16, leaves a working age population of 37.5million. 25 million are employed (6million directly by the government) so 12.5 million in full time education/unemployed/sick/hospitalised or not looking for work!

Hugh

I remember this from the 90's recession!!! showing my age now ain't I?

Back to the op's observations... don't forget students... all those students in full time further education that don't have part time jobs aren't listed as employed or unemployed. Also all the people that for whatever reason can't or don't claim dole money.

We wish! c. 40k in the RAF, less in the Navy (c.32k), Army weighs in at around 100k people - we're a shade over 173k in total and rather undermanned!
