Whet along to the Dax open day and they had a dyno there.
One of the members of staff had built a Rush with a standard pinto with a turbo bolted on.
To every one's supprise (especially the owner) it made several runs arround the 185bhp.
One run touched 187.5bhp
No idea if wheel or calculated crank Bhp, but none the less impressive.
.
Not bad if the compression was stock!
One would have to wonder why, but a few years ago there was a guy with a beautiful red mk2 escort RS2000, was regularly in CCC mag (one year it was
either a winner or runner up in their car of the year thing) with a turbo pinto in it making around 400hp
As far as I know, standard every thing, and no intercooler.
I know of a couple of guys running otherwise stock pintos with an eaton M45 supercharger strapped on making just over 200bhp...
And thats on blow through with the std carbs too...

Good figures that! They do seem high unless the bloke isn't too worried by reliability and is running a lot of boost? Common advice is that a
standard pinto in good health will take 0.5 ish Bar (7 psi) of boost without complaining. At this they tend to make around 150 bhp. Go on
turbosport.com as there are a few on there.
I personally get 170bhp at the rear wheels running 11 psi of boost in my Fisher Fury pinto turbo. That's with an intercooler, cossie pistons and
rods, a big valve head and fueling through twin 45's!
I have however geared the installation around reliability not big numbers. I spent quite some time on the rollers to ensure it fuels well (little
rich for safety) all the way through the rev/boost range and the torque delivery the turbo provides in a Fury is awesome!
Hi
yep was there too for that,
Bhp was @ the wheels and engine is std froma transit i think,
was esciting too watch we was all waiting for it to go bang as he had a bit of detination there,
some nice cars there
also good to chat with you
sean
Forgot to again add as a comparison in my post above that I get 152 RWHP running 7 psi of boost. I can change the boost with a little turbosmart
valve I use!
I do think the figures are a little optimistic on the Dax rollers! I can understand why this could possibly be the case!
if its from a transit aren't they low compression versions??
yep
