?? I guess there's a big chunk of story missing here? I thougnt you were talking about IVA wait at first?!?!

cd.thomson - 20/4/10 at 05:06 PM

no, others might have been following my progress but I've spent the last 18 months jumping through hoops to get into medicine and I've fallen at the last hurdle.

Basically gutted/destroyed/despondent.

I have an offer to study at st georges in London but I don't think I can afford it!

I've just found out that the waiting list is prioritised by the score you got on your entrance exam. I was in the top 2% of applicants so I might get offered a place if anyone drops out/accepts a different offer etc.

feeling slightly less dramatic about it now...

omega0684 - 20/4/10 at 05:57 PM

i don't want to see that crown on your head! YOU KEEP THAT CHIN UP!

eznfrank - 20/4/10 at 06:11 PM

I must have missed the earlier posts. That sucks though, as above keep your chin up I'm sure it'll All turn out right in the long run.

If you've got a place at Georges, then afford it - however you can, whatever you need to do, just do it. Really do sell the Dax, or whatever... chances like that don't get offered more than once.... get a loan, lie, steal (look in the book of charities in the library that support people through medical school and write to all of them, ask georges about hardship funds etc...) Just go!!!!!

^^^ what he said. Look on it as an investment.

thanks for all the comments!

As one door closes, a window opens: my parents (who I live with) are currently planning to move home. Yesterday it transpired that the house we live in is worth significantly more than they had estimated and my old man is adamant they could support me if I studied in London.

It's a bit out of the blue, like a lottery win, and is an absolute testament to how much support my parents have given me over the last 22 years. The fact that they have never faltered, even through my "kevin" years makes me one extremely lucky lad.

I'll keep you all updated on my progress...
