the bird one was actually on top gear at the weekend.

the cat one was posted here a few weeks back.

I wonder if they are really ford ads.... they migh be as there was a web site i visited that was called evil twin, and it was a glossy promo of the car I think inc vids too.

they look pretty slick and professional - I certainly thought they were 'legit' ford adds.......

nicklondon - 3/6/04 at 08:03 AM

i have heard that its a very cost effective form of advertising , put out an ad then claim its not an offical ad and sit back and watch as it zooms about cyber space.its been on here at least twice so how many people have seen it? plus theres no problems from the advertising standards people cause its not offical is it!! there is some very clever people out there.

Any body actually driven a sportka ? They are greeeaatttt ! the nice lady at my local ford dealer let me take one out for an hour or two. I really liked it aprt from the lack of cabin space.

greggors84 - 3/6/04 at 10:31 AM

I heard on a website, while looking for the video a while back, that ford had claimed the advertising company had made them without consent. Then on another advert website its had a quote from a ford spokeswomen saying that it wasnt cruel to the pigeon, as a load of pigeon fanciers (ooh err) had been having a go.

I think nick is right, means they escape the blame when animal rights ativist come round dagenham way.

nicklondon - 3/6/04 at 11:47 AM

wont find much down dagenham way anymore

stephen_gusterson - 3/6/04 at 12:17 PM

erm, they are cgi not real

so how can it be cruel?

also, the sportka is only rated to 60 in about 9 secs - and my bmw 320d touring can do that.......

but does it attack animals

andkilde - 3/6/04 at 01:11 PM

Hmmn, I know your animal rights lobby is pretty strong over there but I'd have thought pigeon fanciers were about as relevant a voice as the slot car racing society, no?

Cheers, Ted

I know its CGI and im sure the animal rights people know it is too, but im sure you know they can get a bit funny, they might think someone might try and replicate getting a cats head stuck in a sunroof!

Dagenham still just springs to mind when i think or where ford is based

I found the pigeon one months ago on Fords 'Evil Twin' website. Only saw the cat one recently. Who ever made them should get paid a lot more 'cause they definately work. I'm willing to bet that 95% of the people who've seen it have either shown it, talked about it or mailed it to someone else.
