I bought a megasquirt kit from DIY Autotune last friday and they dispatched
it the same day.It entered UK customs on monday but it is still there
Has anyone had any experience with customs and how long should it take
To check over and clear a package?
Four days to clear it seems like an awfully long time to me.
I'm a little concerned TBH.
Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.
Andy
the parcels I have had from abroad came via the post office, where they were cleared at the same time.
The PO collect the duty from you when you collect.
That was a few years ago (3 ish) so security may have moved on
stuff can easily take a week whilst they file it, and then work out how much to charge you!
Who is the shipper?
The big name shippers such as UPS & TNT have people who can often assist with customs clearance.
It can take AGES if there's a snag..... My son returned from Japan two days before the earthquake earlier this year, to save on aircraft excess
luggage fees, he posted his snowboard, boots, jacket, back. It (understandably!) took 3 weeks to reach UK customs, where they decided the paperwork
wasn't good enough (they rang him) - it then took them over a month and quite a few more phone calls to release it!!!
The shipper was TNT, but it was the customs who were the delay. Don't hold your breath, but keep pestering them.
Thanks for all the replies gent's.
According to the website,it cleared customs last night
and was sent to the delivering post office.
What it doesnt say though,is where the post office is
and how much they are going to demand from me.
Andy
I'm even more concerned now.
The tracking website for my megasquirt say's that they tried to deliver it
yesterday morning at 9.15 am.I got home at 09.20.....GRRR......
The courier didn't leave a card though,so i dont know who has it or
where it is.And i still dont know how much i have to pay.
Is it just me or does this seem a little half cocked?
Andy
Sounds just like most of the uncaring, unvigillant, disorganised useless lazy F**k*ng Twats you come across in everyday working life.
White fluffy clouds, white fluffy clouds and BrEEEEAAATHE. Ah thats better.
when they delivered mine they used parcelforce
Matt
Today i got a letter from parcel force to tell me that i owed them
£42.40p
Thats £28.90 VAT and a Parcel force handling fee of £13.50
I called the no and payed the bill, then they said i could go and pick
it up if was there before 12.30.
So i jumped in the car and scooted down to collect it.
I'm a happy chap now
Thanks for the help gentlemen
Andy
Sounds like almost everything I've ever had delivered, they normally take it back to a depot where your not allowed to go and pick it up.
Sounds good Andy, made it at last which is nice
Yeah! it soooo much more satisfying when something finally arrives........
To right it is.
I was seriously getting worried about it.
I have just ordered one of those earthing straps for my wrist,
Cos there are a few static sensitive components in the kit.
As soon as it arrives i will get started on the assembly.
I have to say,it does look quite easy to build up

Dead easy man!
you may find that they are due to charge you and they dont have a telephone number for you so they have written. or they are waiting for paperwork
from the seller.
ive had stuff stuff for a few weeks and then turn up with NO charges.
DJ
David,
I payed the charges before i picked it up,so it's mine.All mine
I went over to see me marra Coozer this afternoon and he loaned me his professional
soldering iron to do the job.Cheers Steve.
The instructions on the net are realy easy to follow,it looks like it should
be a piece of p**s to assemble.
I can't wait lad's.
