When I was in Sweden last time - I had Reindeer sausages, nothing wrong with it - Its meat just eat it !

sprouts-car - 16/12/11 at 09:42 AM

What is the problem with this?

balidey - 16/12/11 at 09:45 AM

Looking forward to 'Babe' sausages.
As above, nothing wrong with it, but the red top newspapers do like to turn a story round.

Its this that makes me mad...

POSH shop Harvey Nichols has been blasted for selling REINDEER pâté as a Christmas treat.

What do they mean by 'blasted'? They are always putting in these effing stupid words.

Not quite reindeer but at the firms christmas party we went to a resaurant that had speciality meats on the menu. They had crocodile, kangaroo, impala, zebra, springbok, llama, bison and ostrich. I had springbok which was delicious although impala seemed to be the nicest.

Its all meat. So should be eaten unless you are a Vegetarian or a Vegan from planet Venus.

Only reason for NOT eating an animal is if it tastes like Sh*t, or is an endangered species.
As Spock once said, "It is not logical to hunt an species to extinction" A very wise observation!

Go to the Far East... If it breathes they will eat it. And WHY NOT!!!

Its all in the mind, when it comes to NOT eating a particular meat or meat product.

Only Veggies and Vegans should be allowed to say "Dont eat this or that meat, or meat product" as its against their way / lifestyle / belief.
For a meat eating Journalist to print such stuff about meat and meat productsis totally hypocritical.
Shame on them all.

Ah... I feel so much better after getting that off my chest

PS... I am a fully signed up member of the meat eating fraternity
I have nothing against Veggies or Vegans. Thats their choice. However, its not mine!

As for the original question... Reindeer Pate?? (in fact ANY Pate) Yessss Yom YOm YOM!!!!

+1

Shark fin is a no-no for me though as that's just stupid. We need sharks.

Have eaten most of the above, all but zebra and llama.

I find it hard to articulate my thoughts on this one, so bear with me...

I don't have a problem with eating meat... if I know that the animal was raised with respect and slaughtered with respect due to the necessity for the consumer to survive, then crack-on.

What I don't agree with is the number of animals that are bred across the globe to satisfy the wasteful greed of our outrageously swollen population. We don't need to eat meat on the scale in which we do, so there's the first strike...

Then there's the lives we allow such animals to lead. Generally it's pretty decent for most farmed animals in the UK.. hens, breeding pigs and a few others excepted. But our shops still stock and sell products from overseas where the standards are criminal.

My last 'problem'... slaughterhouses! The manner in which we end the lives of some large farmed animals is nothing short of obscene. Some praise our 'methods' for being humane - quick and painless, etc. etc. However, I find NOTHING humane about animals being taken from their fields in large numbers, packed into wagons where they p*ss and sh*t all over each other, driven to slaughterhouses, electrocuted within sight of each other and then strung up by their rear legs for their throats to be cut. It's not humane... it's just convenient... for us! It maximizes the efficiency of the slaughterhouse and subsequently keeps the meat prices down to a level where we can consume it in the ridiculous quantities which we currently do!

And again, the UK standard of slaughter is FAR higher than most slaughterhouses overseas.

Many a 'horror' film has used the theme of an alien race looking to take over the Earth and consume its inhabitants. It's called a horror-film for a reason... because the thought of us being farmed and consumed is horrifying!

This is an interesting PETA clip introduced by Paul McCartney. IT'S GRAPHIC, SO BE WARNED! I agree that if we stopped for a second and properly considered the journey that the neatly packaged meat on the supermarket shelf took to get into our trolley, then we wouldn't be taking it to the checkout! I'm ashamed to say that I hid my head in the sand for so many years over this issue... ignored it until the guilt was nearly bursting my head! I've been a veggie now for almost a year and it hasn't done me any harm whatsoever!

I wasn't too fussed on kangaroo, but camel was tasty. I like a good horse steak too.

Venison is tasty, but couldn't eat a lot. Makes a superb casserole though, gravy to die for.

Not sure I would want to eat dog/cat (I am not a pet lover either) but each to their own on that one.

Reminds me of a bit of Russel Brand's dvd a few years ago when he's reading out a bit from a newspaper, and how it was so bad that he "ASKED for sex" and "ENJOYED it"

I still think they should make Panda a delicacy, they'd get them breeding!

Can't argue against Reindeer, I've had Boar and Zebra
