What's it for?

Waiting to watch the TT programmes on ITV4....Tennis over running so one Isle of Man TT programme cancelled......

Why?

Who actually plays tennis?

Who cares that Andy Murray has back cramps?

He never wins anything anyway!!

And if he did - who cares?

I know a lot of people who play football, rugby, snooker, pool, cricket, darts, race cars, race motorbikes...even play domino's...those sports have a bit of clout in the programming contest to my mind...

Not one person I know plays tennis...in fact that's not true, I do know one but I wouldn't admit to knowing him in public....

In fact I am not even sure it's a sport.....it's too camp! If the ball was made of the same material as a cricket ball I might be slightly more impressed....

The way that the 'umpires' or 'linesmen' or what ever they are called bend over with their hands behind their backs in case they see the ball hit the line....and stand to attention when throwing a ball to the players....the way that the kids that collect the ball when it hits the net and scramble back to their positions at the end of the net as quickly as they can as if it will upset the play if they lose half a second....

It's a spectacle for Grannies and people who would like to be associated with the idea that they play tennis and drink Pimms.....which is backed up by looking at the audience in the stands....

Makes me want to puke!

Grrrrr

Edited during commercial break to say..if i have upset any tennis players....i don't care!

I can sum the so-called sport up in 2 words....

Cliff Richard!

I rest my case.....a millionaire through winning bugger all but scowls a lot....

And another thing....they can't even keep scores properly....15 - love....love - 15.....30 - 15......?

I know love is the translation from l'oueff....'egg' in french, cos an egg looks like a '0'....which makes it even more hateful.....

'DEUCE' ?

And another thing....sweatbands...what's all that about?

'Oohhh, better wear a sweatband on my head and wrists because if I was to get a bit of sweat in critical places it might affect my performance knocking this soft ball over that knee high net....God forbid I have to use my hands to wipe moisture away from my eyes....they are needed to feed isotonic drinks down my neck in the well earned breaks whilst I have a nice sit down every 2 minutes....'

I can understand a bit of sweat if they got up to 330 - love between breaks, but....

Good Grief!

Anyway - rant over...I am off for a nice game of badminton.

I enjoy watching tennis, not the blokes though, there are a lot of pretty women in short skirts bouncing around the courts.
Second only to beach volleyball for a spectacle

Yeah does wind me up when sports make things run late. You'd think after 80 years they'd be able to account for it..

In fact why not just stick some throwaway repeat on straight afterwards, so if it runs over no-one misses anything. Better still the dvr should be able to adjust accordingly too

I'm guessing none of you guys saw the last few 5-set epics involving Murray, Djokovic and Nadal?

Now THAT was physical sporting endeavour at it's highest level!

Cue joke about a threesome

But your point is still very valid

on this forum i'm sure the tt is more popular, and rightly so!
however, across the rest of the population, unfortunately i think the tennis has the majority...
