Yep, very nice too. The body work finish looks excellent, nice spec too. Still how much?

Seen what? Link would be nice.

Philbo, its a magazine article on an home assembled westfield and its rather special.

Zetec, i would make a guess of £25k and counting?

Ah. Thanks for info. Chance of any brief highlights? What makes it so special?

I've agreed to purchase a pretty special Westfield myself, and would be interested to compare spec...

Its a sprinter very much like the one run by sbdev. Engine is 240bhp vauxaull, with all the usual competition spec. Runs on 8 and 10 by 13 image rims and avon ss slicks. Single seater, composite sandwich floor and front spliter. Custom wishbones, widetrack and lower spherical bearing. Hi specification brakes and running gear. COmposite diffuser, fully remable body on dzuz fasteners. Moified chassis, additional bracing, single side roll cage etc.. Best of all the work is absolouetly imaculate.

Have a look at http://www.sbdev.co.uk/SBD_West/SBD_Westie.htm to get the idea. Ive seen the sbd one and as say its rather special...

Thanks for info. I know the SBD car well. When I get *my* special Westfield it will be off to SBD for them to finish off the job...it currently has a lot of SBD gear on it but could benefit from the SBD front suspension and a hotter cam.

SBD get about 150bhp/litre from the 1.6XE in their car, pretty darned impressive stuff.

Actually I'm getting the Westfield for a bit of a song...about the only Westfield part on it is the chassis, and that's been considerably modified! Rest of it is cherry-picked custom bits from SBD, Quaife, AP, Stack etc. Then lovingly put together by a race car team for a racing driver.

Expanding family and business pressures forced me to abandon the Locost racing project, but I figure they owe me a 7-alike!

I'll get meself down to the Surrey meet one of these days, you wait! I'll always wish I'd built my own car though, so I'll still envy all you genuine Locosters.
