Very stupidly i have put in a bid, on a stamp,on ebay, that i already have, i am the only bidder, an do not really want the sale to go ahead

can i retact my bid, if so how !

Nope!

you can retract it and choose "bid entered in error" or something like that.

If you do it lots it will attract the attention of the powers that be but if this is your first time it will be fine.
go to "customer support" tab and search for retracting bid

Are you admitting to being a stamp collector ?

Message seller asking if he can cancel your bid, if he wont then just tell him to relist and offer the difference. Is it too expensive to just buy and sell anyway?

yep, im a stamp collector, but only Italion stamps, and have a rather impressive collection, that will be going to auction next year

problem is, i called wifey at home to put a bid on a stamp, and she did, but wrong one!
actually, my mistake as i told her sg85, but meant sg90, so it is my mistake

I've retracted bidsa few times on stupid last minute bids that I realised I would never use (much better than just not paying), I would only ever do it as a last ditch thing as it then means someone else can have it without any of the hassle.

You can just retract a bid and say it was the wrong amount but then 'forget' to re-bid.
