Can anyone recommend cheap holiday accommodation in France?
McLannahan - 5/5/14 at 06:40 PM

Hi everyone. We'd love a family (wife and four yr old daughter) holiday in France this year but our budget is not great. Can anyone recommend anything in France? We don't want to camp, but would consider everything else? Hotel, B&B, caravan, gite, cottage etc... Looking for this August.

Thanks everyone!

Norman (of the WSCC forums, even though he drives a Caterham ) runs http://www.frenchblat.com

No personal experience, but his prices look good, and he's got a wicked sense of humour

Try owners direct and then sort out your flights I did this and worked out well

Splitrivet bob on here has mentioned a holiday house in France before.

recently booked and stayed in a house near Spa Francorchamps through homeaway.

a week cost me around 250 in a 3 bed house that slept 9.

maybe have a look.

We've just returned from here today after competing in The Monteberg Rallysprint.

It's only about ten miles or so from the French border into Belgium between Dranouter and Kemmel.
It's a small friendly family run hotel that offers nice accomodation, lovely food and superb views.

It's about an hours drive from Calais so not far. Ypres is another ten or so miles away and is a must visit if in the area.

We've been several times now and have already booked again for next year! We paid 33 Euros a night b & b per person but they may have done us a deal as there was eleven of us.

Off topic, what did you compete in? I've done monteberg twice with a darrian crew

Group 4 historic mk1 Escort with a 240 bhp warrior. I was spannering. Came 37th overall out of about 120. Had a few issues so would've been a bit higher up but pleased with the result.

Thanks all. Sadly prices seem to be just crazy, but I guess if people pay it it's just marketing, not craziness! Eurocamp looked ideal for us as a family but it looks to be 1200 for a week and that's not even slightly within our reach!

I'll carry on looking, owners direct next on the list!
