hmmmmm, either the police are super efficient or else two drop outs were rounded up to take the can in the electirc chair.

either way, it is a good advert for the country's tourism industry indicating that criminals will be found and punished implying the place is safe.

Strange how they said as soon as it happened it was absolutely impossible that a Thai lander had committed the crime and it turns out to be foreigners.

Maybe the police are just really good and maybe these two Burmese men really did come in and confess but it just doesn't seem kosher.

Let's just say that in my experience the "law" in Thailand is pretty flexible and is only too happy to adjust the truth to suit requirements. In addition having had to personally jump on top of a local Thai bloke high on yaba to stop him beating the shite out of another Thai person (barlady at our resort) I find the suggestion that it "couldn't" have been a Thai person slightly hard to believe. The rock in his hand that he was smashing her over the head with until me and another bloke did a Twickenham special on him suggests it's not all happy happy Buddhism going on! It's a shame though. Ko Thao is like heaven on earth- spent 10 days there with my wife and it was out of this world. The scuba / snorkeling was amazing.

The trouble is we'll never know.
