When abseiling goes wrong
Mark Allanson - 27/3/06 at 09:49 PM

I did a charity abseil at Lusty Glaze at Newquay on saturday, 160' drop, complete novis, tipping down with rain, 5:30 in the afternoon, slippy fingers........ Rescued attachment PICT0041small.jpg

Did Noel Edmonds knot the rope for you?

The decender was mainly downwards, but I did go sideways for a bit, the failsafe was a very large patch of sand at the bottom

Seriously, I did hit a ledge and slipped, I couldn't get off the ledge until the chap at the top with the safety line gave me some slack, which I unfortunately took up all the slack at once! Very minor bruising, and a massive adrenalin rush

That was rather silly Mr Allanson.

Nutter

Mark Allanson - 28/3/06 at 09:48 PM

St Julias is £215.00 better off now though

robinbastd - 28/3/06 at 09:59 PM

Your local undertaker could've been a couple of grand richer.
Well done for raising the dosh though - I'll sponsor you next time if it involves jumping from an aeroplane.

Gulvalicaly speaking I always fancied a parachute jump.....not sure if I have the bottle to actually do it mind you

Mark Allanson - 28/3/06 at 10:12 PM

I did do a 'parachute jump' at the age of seven, with misleading information from my grandfather.

This resulted in severe brusing, nettle rash and partial strangulation with a bed sheet and a bump on the head from a school satchell.

Just use you imagination - lets just say I have never had a fear of heights
