Also a lesson in why not to stand on the outside of bends when watching provincial rallies!!!

Mezzz - 5/6/06 at 07:05 PM

Ouch... that put me off watch rallying for a while!!

A lot of those crashes are due to drivers not knowing the track

Nice thing to do with French cars (just kidding!)

What i still don't understand is that folks still standing in corners and much to close to the circuit.

nice escort donor crash at 7 minutes

I do cringe when i see those Mk1 & Mk2 Escorts crashing. Infact all the historic cars. What a waste.

aye it's heart breaking seeing old scorts trashed like that, good few manta's go to in the finland clips, always had a soft spot for the manta

AlexS - 5/6/06 at 08:11 PM

I cannot believe they have any crowd left! some of those come so close id not volunteer to stand there!

French people are funny.

The co-drivers must know when their rally is over, they keep throwing the pace notes out of the window.

Err that's the big pull of rallying - not knowing the track, and having to rely on the co-driver to tell you where to go. Most club type events use maps, but are moving towards pacenotes. These are sometimes more dangerous as the notes are written by a third party. His version of a fast right may not be yours!
The crashes occur because the driver is going too fast for the circumstances - much the same as road driving really - or just plain incompetence (they call it trying too hard!).

That's really bad! After watching a lot of WRC rallys, I've concluded that rallying in Ireland (and I'm sure the UK) is the safest in the World. granted you don't always get to watch from the best pointsbut at least you always get to go home.

NS Dev - 6/6/06 at 09:58 PM

Not only the safest, but irish tarmac rallying is the best I have watched in the world too!!

You gotta remember... France is a country with no Health and Safety Executive!

Cheers,

I think they are big on natural selection, judging by some of the things my froggy housemates been doing in the kitchen, im surprised there are any left

irvined - 7/6/06 at 03:48 PM

And is it me, or do french cars have an amazing tendancy to roll over at any given oppertunity?
