Hi

My father in law has had to remove the bottom heat shield from his catalytic convertor as it was hanging down and hitting the road.

Is there a problem not having this shield in place?

Whats it for as it does not offer a huge amount of protection?

Cheers for any info.

Mark

Unsure but may be there to keep the heat in the cat .

PS also dont park it in any long dry Grass !!!!!

Shouldn't be a problem to take it off, mine was rattling on my Pug 106 and during a routine service the garage just took it off, that was 2 years ago and still have no problems

the reason for these heat shelds are to keep the heat away from the car thats all if you get a burning smell when you have taken it off put one back
