Its a good job that my puter is in a comunal area of my house and not in the bathroom. I'd have to lock the bath oom door for a while.

That article just sent my cliche meter into the red and bent the needle.

Bet it doesn't do corners

Guinness - 23/8/06 at 11:19 AM

Surprisingly no mention of fuel consumption figures!

Nor of actual performance, i.e. 0-60 for V-MAX!

Perhaps it's all show and not much go?

Attention to detail abounds, and even the piston rings are of an ‘endless’ design to prevent compression leakage.

hmmmmm, how do the fit them then?

David Jenkins - 23/8/06 at 12:16 PM

"Endless rings" have an overlaps instead of squared-off ends, so that under pressure the ends are sealed - hence no blow-by.

As for performance - he does state that it does 125mph in 4.something seconds, which is fairly impressive.

"the crank is balanced to zero"

Again, WTF?

More techno-babble...the article is loaded with it and the PHer's are lapping it up...

DIY Si - 23/8/06 at 04:29 PM

Shame he's gone and ruined it by putting that stupid scoop thing on it. Is it actually possible to mig titanium and ally together?

Danozeman - 23/8/06 at 05:05 PM

MMMMMMM very nice. I do agree though that scoop spoils the smooth lines of the bonnet.

If I want to end it all, I'd like to take that for a drive in the wet!

BTW I was under the impression that welded aluminium chassis' had been tried a few times before (on much lower powered sevens) and had always ended in cracks/metal fatigue......
I know the Elise got round it by bonding instead of welding.

David Jenkins - 23/8/06 at 09:38 PM

The trick with this article is to separate the technical achievements of the maker from the waffle spouted by the know-nothing author...

It works for motorbike frames, including 260bhp MotoGP bikes.....

In case anyone hasn't seen the link in PH here is a video of what looks to be an earlier version.

On the other hand this video completely fails to make me want an Veyron - it just doesn't supply the soundtrack.

Mmmm - 618cu in/10 litres with nitrous...

And all the controls look clunky and crude... I love it!

JoelP - 24/8/06 at 11:29 AM

that veyron sounds like a distant pop concert, with all the whistling and roar in the background!
