Not sure if its the same as the 924, but in them the gearbox is at the back i.e. transaxle.

well, the engine is in the front of the 944, is it in the from tof the 924 aswell?

i want to know because i'm thinking of useing my audi gearbox mounted in the back but with the engine in the front with a shaft connecting the two, thing is i need to get clutch parts

Engine in front, torque tube/prop shaft thingy to transaxle under the boot.

i have a engine and transaxle off a 944 and when i have rime im going to put it into one of our chassis might help the ass end spitting out when i nail it out of a corner

As someone who sprinted and hillclimbed a 924 for a couple of years. Slow and handled like a washing machine- Got to corners and spun forever( major lift off oversteer), I looked at alternative engines. If you are thinking of using the Porsche bell housing, It will only bolt to Porsche engines, 5 and 6 cylinder Audi engines anything else will need n adapter plate.

infact from what i've read on google it sounds like the audi 5000 (thats the 100 over in here across the pond) gearbox is the same as that used in the 944 so maybe no adapter plates, but i might try an enginneer something myself before i spend money on old porsche parts
