part worn tyre suppliers on ebay
ned - 15/1/07 at 03:05 PM

can't get a link whilst at work but there are a couple of suppliers on ebay offering part worn (they say 5-7mm min tread) branded tyres at what seem like good prices compared to new, even blackcircles or mytyres.

Anyone got the low down or ever used these places? I'm guessing they're off some sort of lease condition or written off vehicles or something?

cheers,

Ned.

I use a guy down here in Exeter, the tyres are from Germany, where there is the ultra strict TUV, the tyres are all checked before sale, he often bins large quantities of tyres because they're not up tp his standards.

Custom Fleet who we lease through at work won't let ATS replace the tyres until they are below 2mm tread depth. ATS also have to keep the tyres for 1 month in case Custom Fleet ask to see them too.

I believe that the law in Germany states that when you put your car up for sale you must fit new tyres (or something like that). Hence so many reasonably good tyres from that part of the world.

I still don't think that I'd be too comfortable running on second-hand tyres... (I was going to say "second-hand rubber" then, but I remembered what a smutty lot you are. )

But would you put new tyres on a second hand car though? Wouldn't use part worn myself as I get new tyres at cost which is about the same as part worn prices
