Whos correct on this one ?
Jon Ison - 6/3/07 at 08:54 AM

Just had a ear bashing for putting the toilet tissue (aka bog roll) in the wrong way around.........she should be thankful I put one in and not left her too do it.........

I prefer it too unroll into the room, swimbo always puts it in so it unrolls down the wall side......

Who is correct, and why ?

nib1980 - 6/3/07 at 08:55 AM

into the room, standard chambermaid practice

iank - 6/3/07 at 08:55 AM

You are, and just because!

TimC - 6/3/07 at 08:56 AM

Jon

If this is all that you and your other half have to worry about then good luck mate!

Mr Whippy - 6/3/07 at 08:56 AM

Next time leave it 'in' the bowl, she obviously has you under her thumb

David Jenkins - 6/3/07 at 08:58 AM

Jon, you should have a poll on this important issue...
... I vote for "into the room".

rjs - 6/3/07 at 09:00 AM

its just the same old story , you are wrong , you always will be wrong , what ever you do will be wrong .
just face it , you cant & wont win .

BenB - 6/3/07 at 09:03 AM

If a man is alone in a forest and there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?

DaveFJ - 6/3/07 at 09:04 AM

get one of those vertical type roll holders... that'll confuse her

rjs - 6/3/07 at 09:04 AM

Don't you think that is taking re-cycling a Just a bit too far?

Mr Whippy - 6/3/07 at 09:28 AM

just to get on her good side...seperate every little square and stack them to make a big tower

arrybradbury - 6/3/07 at 09:32 AM

How would you end up with $-it stains down the wall either way?

twybrow - 6/3/07 at 09:32 AM

Into the room every time! Weird how little things like that bother us (and women!)....

How would she feel if you left the loo seat up?!

Fozzie - 6/3/07 at 09:37 AM

Deffo right on this one Jon

Into the room every time!

Fozzie

nick205 - 6/3/07 at 09:48 AM

Of course it should un-roll into the room - otherwise how are you going to get the tug-whizz-brake-tear motion right?

Peteff - 6/3/07 at 09:53 AM

not down the back or you'll not see the perforations till they are almost on the next sheet. I bet you don't close the curtains properly either. As a temporary solution we used a kitchen roll holder that stands on the floor, it's been there 23 years now

DaveFJ - 6/3/07 at 10:00 AM

It's not an issue in my house, I think i must have the only wife in the world who absolutely refuses to put the roll on the holder! if it runs out she just stands a fresh roll on top until i notice and put it on!

And yes - it unrolls into the room!

tomblyth - 6/3/07 at 10:01 AM

It must have been a big roll to start with or you have serious constapation problems!

mookaloid - 6/3/07 at 10:02 AM

Odd that Jon I have exactly the same problem - my good lady thinks the same as your good lady and I believe the same as eveyone here!

Agriv8 - 6/3/07 at 10:04 AM

in the room - If she insists and you agree to a quite life.

Miss match the perforations by seperating the 2 ply and unravelling the top one a full rotation after you use it.

Hope this helps

Regards

Agriv8

Peteff - 6/3/07 at 10:10 AM

You are evil personified

graememk - 6/3/07 at 11:42 AM

we had an argument like this at the weekend, i'd been out for a few drinks and to cut a long story short i had the squits so i've been using her nice moist toilet tissue, turns out is not wet bog roll but very £££££ make up removing pads.

woops.

Humbug - 6/3/07 at 12:00 PM

We have the same argument in our hous: I'm for unrolling into the room, SWMBO for unrolling down the room. My arguments (dimissed out of hand, of course ) are:

1. it's easier to find the end and pull off the right amount

2. for loo rolls with a pattern on, the pattern is always printed on the outside - if you let the paper unroll wallside you don't see the pattern, therefore it must be designed to go the other way!

Avoneer - 6/3/07 at 12:07 PM

You don't want to be scraping your knuckles on the wall now do you?

Pat...

RoadkillUK - 6/3/07 at 12:20 PM

Hmm, I'm sure my kids do the 'mismatched perforations' on purpose, it's a little rougher the wrong way out.

Oh, and I vote into the room, so does the missus.

worX - 6/3/07 at 12:41 PM

I think I must be the only one who wants it this way round - I feel a bit funny now!

You can pull it quicker (oo er) (and all in my head, but thats that) - it's always out of you way, and you can do it all with one hand! (this could be the most ambiguous comment I've ever made!!!

[Edited on 6/3/07 by worX]

Mr Whippy - 6/3/07 at 12:46 PM

it is quite disturbing how long this thread is lasting

Well you are posting from Arkham Asylum...

As for the suggestion to deliberately miss match the perforations, there is a special place in hell for people that do that

In our house the seat gets left up btw, my 4 and 6 year old boys have successfully trained their mother on that front

Agriv8 - 6/3/07 at 01:07 PM

Flamed for admitting that I have missmatched perforations

I find it sometimes the little irritations that can send a man mad. My mother said I was a bad un

Ps no one has posted the toilet hummor gags yet !!!

Agriv8

andyps - 6/3/07 at 03:30 PM

Has to be into the room - if you stand there it is much easier to get a piece which is into the room rather than against the wall. And if you are sat down it makes no difference.

Pete - right.

jollygreengiant - 6/3/07 at 03:37 PM

To misquote the great bard....... "once more into the room, once more.".......

Jon Ison - 6/3/07 at 03:43 PM

Hi Mrs Jon here, you are all wrong with one exception, I blame you lot for his bad habits which are many I might add ???

RoadkillUK - 6/3/07 at 03:59 PM

Sorry

chrisg - 6/3/07 at 04:03 PM

Sorry I'm with WorX, and Jon's missus.

Down the wall, looks untidy otherwise.

(And yes, I am obbsessive compulsive)

Cheers

Chris

worX - 6/3/07 at 04:26 PM

Chris,
I'm obsessive compulsive aswell - had to retrain my gf when she moved in on SO much stuff - I have to have the kettle placed back so that it would be right handed to lift again, and a thousand other things - but the TP took the longest to sort out and explain, but then I'm quite lucky to have TP, as IanK pointed out where I live and everyone in "here" usually just uses the abundance of padded wall liner to decorate!!!

Whoa!!!!! we have an imposter in the fold!!!!!!! Is this allowed???? This thread has taken a terrible turn for the worse

In our house the paper isnt on the roll long enough. Too many women in the house!! and one of them is nearly 2 and thinks she is an Andrex puppy.

G.Man - 6/3/07 at 05:20 PM

Into the room always...

Wall side is wrong

chrisg - 6/3/07 at 05:41 PM

If more people don't start agreeing with me the sky will fall......I just knows it

Tissue to the wall - you know it makes sense.

You'll be the sort of people who don't have their CDs in alphabetical order.

cheers

Chris

CD's are in alphabetical order by artist, and then by date of release by artist. But the toilet roll is definitely into the room.

Is there a particular way I should hold the book I got from Amazon this morning Chris?

chrisg - 6/3/07 at 06:05 PM

I think you know where you can stick it!

Cheers

Chris

scotty g - 6/3/07 at 06:22 PM

my Wife used to be a manager in a 5 star hotel, even SHE says that the roll goes out into the room.
We do disagree on the toilet lid though, i say it should be up but she says it should be down...WHY? Who said that the default setting for the lid should be in the down position!
she says, "if the lid is up then i have to put it down every time before i can go toilet"
I say "so, i have to put it up every time i want to go toilet!"
Cheers.

JoelP - 6/3/07 at 09:29 PM

i put both lids down, then its not right for either of us

And of course the paper should be into the room, not down the wall. When im in customers houses, i make a point of turning it round if they got it wrong

I'm down the wall too, just seems easier that way and yes my CD's and DVD's are in alphabetical order. Why do I suddenly feel ashamed of all this? Come on speak up you closet wallers, you know you want to. Fight the oppression

The Shootist - 6/3/07 at 10:22 PM

Down the wall if you have cats, into the room otherwise.....

Peteff - 7/3/07 at 12:11 AM

No, you put the seat down luv, not the lid. If you go with the lid down you will get a damp patch.
You have to put the lid down and the plug in the wash basin and bath, it's a Feng Shui thing or your cheese goes down the plughole or something.

OX - 7/3/07 at 12:52 AM

into the room. tell her if she changes it around again you'll start using her flannel instead.

[Edited on 7/3/07 by OX]

jollygreengiant - 7/3/07 at 08:32 AM

No, once again I reitterate, the paper is into the room, the seat AND lid should be down (that way everyone is inconvenienced when desperate), the plugs should be out (sod fangi shouei) and the cd's & dvd's should be in alphabetical order of artist (cd's) and title (dvd's) then date of release.
Oh and we have had cats since marriage, never had a problem, even when we had a dogas well.
