Audi A4 trouble
CraigJ - 2/11/07 at 06:01 PM

Right i have a P reg A4 2.6, the problem i have is the bloody heater fan works when it wants really but it comes on 9 times out of 10 if i slam the passenger door ( go figure) so im thinking loose connection some where.

Has anyone had this on an Audi before? Does anyone have access to a wiring diagram for the A4 96-97 model.

Thanks.

Does it do it if you slam the drivers door?

I've had a similiar problem with my astra, the blower motor mostly worked, when it didn't I drove of as usual and if I went over a manhole cover or something like that it would come on.
If it's the same thing as mine the blower motor bearings were worn causing it to slightly stick and a well place thump would get it going again, it got worse taking a bigger and bigger thump to get it going.
Today I bought a new blower motor assembly for £94.59 and fitted it now works as it should it was getting dangerous and f*ing cold as well

Cheers

Finally, one I know the answer to!

I had the same problem with my Passat. It's the 4/5 pin connector that connects onto the fan motor resistor (it determines the speed the fan operates at). If you disconnect the wiring and the connector you should see that they are corroded and the wiring may have even started to melt. If you disconnect them, you might be able to clean them with some emery paper and contact cleaner, but i found this to be only a temporary fix.

Dunno if the A4 is the same, but I used to take out the glove box for access to the fan. Oh, and don't diconnect anything with a yellow connector if you're not sure - it's usually airbag related.

Good luck!

Greg.

hi, that will be your heater fan motor, if you take out your glove box u will be able to see it. its a pear shaped with i think 8mm bolts holding it in. to test if it is this when u turn the heater fan on and it doesnt work hit the top of the passanger side dash board? not bad to change but i think quite expensive.

hope this helps.

James.
