Hi, Just got an e-mail from a fellow member who I have had no previous contact with containing a worm type virus.
luckily AVG virus scan picked it up straight away. It did have an attachment with it so I was suspicous at once.
For goodness sake please make sure you have all got a good virus scan downloaded.
The AVG scan is free so thre is no excuse!
Dean !!!!!
Who was it?
Maybe they ought to be warned more directly...
(You probably have, but hey I said it anyway...)
Cheers.
Rich.
Hi ,Done that already, no need to mention names.
Thought at first it was someone that had taken a comment the wrong way at Newark, but I'm sure it was not personal.Shit happens!
Please try and educate everyone you all have contact with.
Thanks. Dean .
It was me, apoligies boys, i have AGV and was under the incorrect impression it updated its self, but it don't, updated now, 1 virus found, and got
rid off, so if you have any e-mails from me after now...Monday, 18.30 Hrs, your safe......chances are more on here have it as i got it from somewhere
?????
to have thought it may be personal is a bit off though, comments at Newark ? what comment's ?
puzzeld with that one ?
Can anyone tell me where i can get AGV
Cheers
Hi, I didn't mean you had sent it on purpose, sorry if you thought I was having a dig, I definately was not.
I spoke to hundreds of people at Newark because I was helping Martin on the MK stand all weekend.Talking to loads of people about Indy's and locosts
all day I'm bound to have said something someone disagreed with even if not intentional.
Hope this makes my comments a little clearer, perhaps I should have mentioned this to start with.
All the best,Dean.
I'd blame Liam...
It may have been you that shouted at him when he decided to measure the width of the Indy chassis....
hehe
no probs Dean........you see i don't argue full stop, and certanly dint have words with anyone at Newark, only drinks n things, like i said apoligies all round...... Bob, dean as address for AGV, can't remember it myself, but it does work, just remember it as to be updated manually, i thought it was auto...
No,it wasn't,but it was quite funny.
Actually it was Martins dad.
Martins business and livelihood ,not to mention his workforce make a living from his chassis development, and quality of construction.
MK are always helpful but surely you can understand their apprehension when someone gets a tape measure out.
A lot of people wish their suspension worked as well as an Indy, certainly a couple of manufacturers anyway.
Perhaps Liam sells his findings to other manufacturers on the quiet to suppliment his income(only joking Liam).I'm sure no harm was done except to
Liams pride perhaps.
Anyway stop writing and get building you lot or your cars will nver get finished.
No mine's not finished either before anyone says anything.
Keep smiling, Dean.
I can't.
I gotta sort out the M5 donor first...
BOB,I just use Yahoo usually and type in AVG.
But I have had a look and try this for the free download. www.WebAttack.comm and the main site is www.grisoft.comm
Hope this helps.
Dean.
Helloooo
Wasn't me honest - I run Norton and wouldn't do that to anybody anyway.
I fully understand that Martin wants to protect his designs and I know what a helpful guy he is (he sold me some of his nice oval wishbone tube so
mine will hopefully look as cool as his, didn't mark it up and he cut it up for free).
I did think I was pounced on a bit quickly though. It was obvious I only measured the width of the chassis and the potential width of a wheel arch of
a sierra-width car (no major secrets there). Sure if I started measuring up his suspension geometry, I'd have rightfully deserved a good telling off,
but I'm designing my own thanks.
No hard feelings at all though. I guess the 'strictly no tape measures' policy is the easiest way to make sure nobody measures up anything secret on
the sly.
Liam
Liam, there's a guy just down road from me building an MK, no lets not go there.....keep ya tape to yourself ,
ah spot on Dean, i remember now, grisoft, its that long ago since i downloade'd it
AHHHHHHH!!
Thats better, only 13 different little bloody worms.
Sorry to anyone who got it from me,i'd recomend grisoft though.
Cheers dean.
Surely, if a major competitor wanted to know the geometry of an indy, they could afford a grand an look at one to their hearts content?
bit of an over reaction perhaps?

I agree, £400 chassis aint it, easy enough me thinks!!!!!
Now there's an idea!!!!! only joking....
Just got a message saying to download a new version of messanger,is this a virus or legit, anyone know?
tis ok to download it........
the thing to look for is E~mails with attachements, especially from people you don't expect them from, i sused the AVG auto download now, mine was set
up for 7am every morning, i'm never online then, thats why my version was 6 months old and not up to date as i thought it was......if you aint got AVG
get it........now
I notice that the virus is still flying around - one arrived in my inbox last night.
I deleted it immediately so didn't find out the originator.
Please - everyone get a virus checker! AVG is free, and only takes a little while to download.
cheers,
David
Where do you get avg and ive got norton (not the bike stupid)do i delete that?
tia John (computer illiterate)
Norton should be OK mate.

Even i managed to download it and get it working,so its easy.
Remember i still cant find me builders e-mail address, which i am sure will amuse merlin.

I've just received a worm from "jonison61@hotmail.com" it arrived at 19.44 on the 20th so its pretty recent ;(
is that when it arrived, or when you open'd it ? i have just ran AVG again to double check and i am bug free, full system check, came up clean with
latest updates installed.....what more can i do ? cos i certanly have neve e~mail'd Mr Fista, don't know the guy, don't know is address......
oh, just point worth noting....at that time, on the 20th, 19.44, I WAS OFFLINE with Metal hippy checkin out a donor car, BMW M5 in a mates yard at
Clay Cross derbyshire, i know if you have a virus your pc can send out e~mails willy nilly, but i would have thought it need'ed at least to be
switched on and on~line, IT WAS NEITHER.
Hi,is it possible for this virus to say its from one address when it could have from another source?
Just a thought!
Dean.
Don't worry Mr Ison, no probs, my AV software sorts it out without me even having to click a button
Strangely enough, it was sent to a mailbox I set up only for this site, I've not used it anywhere else at all...

Bad form to reply to my own post etc.
Just got another worm sent to my e-mail, all more or less the same as before apart from no mention of Mr Ison *blushes*
It seems that this worm just sends random files to people's address books and adds random names in the "from" field, sorry for not checking before
blurting ;(
No offence meant
none taken......i was aware i had caught the cold, but i also knew i had taken the antibiotics and got shut, i was a little concerned untill i
realised that i was 100% offline at the time it was sent to you, i have run health checks since and all is ok at this end.
A virus doing the rounds a while ago did pretty much the same thing, just plucked add's out the blue, making the mail look ok to the reciever.....
