Richard Hammond to front BBC F1

It kind of reminds me of noel edmonds, once the BBC think they have a winner they do seem to flog the poor buggers to death.

Linky

Never know though it might work.

Please no, he'll be worse than James Allen

You're right there - get someone popular and he gets put on every programme they can think of (at least while he remains flavour of the month).

Can you now just imagine Clarkson doing Martin Brundle's grid walk. Now he could REALLY upset uncle Max and big Bernie

<flash forward> hee hee, and we've set up a couple of caravans filled with explosives to explode on the first corner, hee hee </flash forward>

Remember on top gear he didnt think driving an f1 car would be too hard? He wont have a clue. All i can say is he would be better than gary lineker, i cant stand him

britishtrident - 25/3/08 at 08:34 PM

The question mark is missing -- in the F1 Forums more than a few threads have been speculating on this it is unlikely as Hammond is on record as saying he dosen't like F1.

The one shoo in for a job is Berrnie's daughter who works for ITV F1

To be honest even Coisty or Sue Barker would make a better job than any of the top gear shower.

' LOL he couldn't be that bad, could he? ' Let's just hope they don't wheel Murray Walker out. IMHO he was worse than James Allen.

britishtrident - 25/3/08 at 08:48 PM

I think James Allen intentionally plays down his knowledge of F1 to allow Martin to explain the race by correcting & explanding on what JA says..

In a similar vein James May plays the idiot on Top Gear ( to a truly insulting degree) although he is by far the most knowledgeable on cars and engineering of the three Top Gear presenters.

BenB - 25/3/08 at 10:06 PM

There's pretending to be ignorant and just being a waste of oxygen.

JA's total contribution to your average F1 GP is a rather annoying

"goooooooooooooooooooooooo" at the beginning of the race followed by 2 hours worth of being a total duckwad and not knowing which cars are which and who drives for which team.

Perhaps being at the races confuses things by making things too exciting.

Perhaps he should do the voice-over from his home

and Perhaps they should switch off the microphone

.... The noise of a 19k V8 is much nicer....

Hooray I'm not the only one Clarkson couldn't fix anything, I'm suprised he knows were the engine is

I think hammond would be ok, but leave Murray out of it

dnmalc - 26/3/08 at 06:48 AM

Sod Hammond, Suzie Perry would be much more interesting

oldtimer - 26/3/08 at 08:16 AM

I don't like the idea of Hammond, but, I'm just thankful it's not Clarkson.
