I swapped the bike (cbx550) for an old computer the bike had been stood for 5 years, put a new battery on it and it started with 1/2 a can of easy start, put had this noise, took the rocker cover off to find a tappet had come out? now i'm left with this tappy noise, the cams look and feel fine.

my bros car developed a similar sort of knocking noise when the big end went?

Is this a thing where u know whats wrong and we just have to guess or havnt u got a clue what it is?

Definitely sounds top end, not big end or anything like that.
How did the tappet come out? Is there damage to the cam? It actually sounds like a grossly large tappet gap, but presumably if you've replaced the tappet you've reset all clearances?

My CBX550 was run low on oil (by me...) and the big ends went, it sounded a lot like that, was the pistons hitting the head

I had new bearings and a reground crank fitted by a spanner-monkey, with the emphasis on monkey, he stripped more threads than he left intact, it was never the same
