i need a little help please.
my tumble dryer has stopped heating up.

if the heating element still shows a continuity through it can it still be knackered
or is that element ok and someting else has gone kaput.

my tumble drier sometimes stops heating up(sorry the wifes), it has an overheat stat that cuts the power to the element when the driers vents etc become blocked, I just press the pop out button on the stat to reset it and give the machine a good clean everywhere with the vac.

IIRC tumble drier elements read about 28 ohms check to see if there is a resettable thermostat on the back. If not it could be the thermostat thats gone.

it does have a reset button the back, it hasnt tripped though.

never thought to actually check the resistance i just did a continuity test.

our dryer stopped drying a while back called out engineer and all he did was bend a piece of wire into a hook and stuck it down the waste pipe, pulled a big clump of fluff out. worked ever since.

check heater element (dual circuit) pull off common neutral wire (blue) and test across both circuits.If red button hasnt popped check circuit anyway.Thermal cutout on backplate to check(note two wires disappear down to centre of drum rear,finally check exhaust stat in exhaust duct,If all ok timer contact to heater may have failed,good luck
