"The 1st super 7 was built in time-honoured Lotus manner. A 7 chassis was bought into the workshop and the engine/gearbox unit was hoisted roughly into place. Measurments were taken and with deft use of hacksaw and welding torch, both engine and gearbox mountings were fabricated. Peter Warr recalls that the necessary adjustements to the chassis tubes to accomodate the new gearbox were marked with chalk but while the chassis was sitting out in the yard a sudden rainstorm washed all the chalk away and the whole operation had to be repeated"
there if it was good enough for Colin......the method described above i think is still the best way to mount the engine box, bung it in, make the brackets, this way you only do it once.....
